True, though there is an interaction between body and mind. And when your nervous system is flaring up in an anxiety response, the mind participates in a feedback loop.

One simple tool is your breath. Just take some deep, controlled breaths. Or switch up the pattern (two inhales, one exhale). Shallow, rapid breathing is a typical body response to anxiety, so being mindful and counteracting that with intentional breathing is a great way to calm yourself.
